Everything You Need to Know About Posting Bail in Colorado Springs

We know this whole process can feel overwhelming. These are the answers we give most often.

How much does a bail bond cost in Colorado Springs?

Colorado law caps bail bond premiums at 15% of the total bail amount, with a $50 minimum. On average, most bonds cost around 10%, and many qualify for that rate with an approved cosigner. So a $5,000 bond could run anywhere from $500 to $750. We always work to get you the best possible price, and we’ll walk you through the exact cost for your situation before you commit to anything.

How does a bail bond actually work?

When bail is set, you have two choices: pay the full amount yourself, or pay a bail bondsman a percentage (the premium) to post the full bond on your behalf. We take on the risk, you pay a fraction of the cost, and your loved one gets released while the case moves through court. It’s the difference between coming up with thousands of dollars overnight and making one phone call. And that call gets you more than a bond. You get a guide who stays with you through the whole case, with court reminders, straight answers, and support whenever you need it.

How long does it take to bail someone out of jail in Colorado Springs?

Our part of the process takes about 15 minutes. Once we post bond, release typically takes 2 to 6 hours. Jails are generally required to release someone within 6 hours of the bond being posted, but timing depends heavily on how busy the jail is at that moment. We’ll call you as soon as it’s time to head over and pick up your person.

What do I need to bail someone out of jail?

Just three things: a valid photo ID, your most recent pay stub, and the premium. If collateral is required, we’ll let you know on your call so there are no surprises when you show up.

What's the difference between bail and a bail bond?

Bail is the full amount the court sets for release. A bail bond is how you cover that amount without paying it all yourself. You pay us a percentage, we post the full bail, and your loved one gets released a whole lot faster than if you were trying to scrape the full amount together.

What happens if my loved one misses their court date after posting bail?

The bond can be forfeited and a warrant may be issued. This is exactly why we walk every client through their court dates and make sure they understand what’s expected. We’d rather help you stay on top of it than deal with the fallout of a missed date. But if it does happen, don’t panic. There are many ways we can help clear a warrant and get things back on track. As your bondsman, we take it as our duty to do everything we can to help, while you’re doing everything you can.
